Professor Simon-Peter Kafui Aheto, Esq.
Professor Simon-Peter Kafui Aheto, Esq. is an Associate Professor of Information
Technology and Education at the University of Ghana and a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana. He currently serves as Deputy Director (Programmes) at the Digital Youth Village and Centre for Digital Youth Development and coordinates international programmes within the College of Education. His academic career has been firmly anchored at the University of Ghana, where he has held several leadership roles, including Acting Head of the Department of Distance Education and Acting Dean of the International Programmes Office. His broader academic engagements extend internationally through external examining roles at the University of Cape Town, University of South Africa and Durban University of Technology, as well as earlier scholarly affiliation with Cape Peninsula University of Technology and visiting scholarship at KU Leuven in Belgium. A globally engaged scholar, Professor Aheto has contributed extensively to international policy, research and capacity-building initiatives. He has led and participated in major global and continental projects with organisations such as UNESCO, the African Union, the Commonwealth Secretariat, UNICEF and GIZ. His work includes leading the UNESCO Internet Universality Indicators assessment in Ghana and contributing to international advisory platforms, including the UNESCO Internet Universality Indicators Steering Committee and the International Association of Universities global survey on digital transformation. He is a frequent speaker, facilitator and presenter at international conferences, workshops and policy forums, delivering keynote addresses and capacity-building sessions on digital transformation, ICT in education and youth development across Africa and beyond. His global training engagements have included facilitating programmes that have reached over 1,000 young people worldwide through Commonwealth Secretariat initiatives. Through his interdisciplinary expertise in law, technology and education, Professor Aheto continues to shape global conversations on digital policy, youth empowerment and innovation-driven development.
