About the 4th International Colloquium
Open, Flexible and Distance Learning (OFDL) has become a cornerstone of modern education, offering flexibility to learners worldwide, particularly those unable to attend traditional brick-and-mortar classrooms. As of today, the landscape of OFDL is evolving rapidly, driven by technological advancements, inclusivity demands, and socioeconomic challenges. The 4th DLI International Colloquium theme is posited to delve into the future by exploring four sub-themes to chart a path forward for resilient and equitable educational systems.

I joined the Open University as a Lecturer in Design in 2008 and became a Senior Lecturer in 2018. In 2019, I became Chair for the Engineering and Innovation AthenaSWAN Silver submission and I was appointed Equality Diversity Inclusivity and Accessibility Lead in 2020. In 2024. I was appointed Deputy Director STEM EDIA.

Chukunoye Enunuwe OCHONOGOR is 1989 alumni of the Correspondence and Open Studies Institute (COSIT – now Distance Learning Institute – DLI), University of Lagos. Presently, he is a Professor Extraordinaire (Emeritus) in Science/Chemistry Education at Tshwane University of Technology, (TUT), Pretoria, South Africa, and an Independent Contract Professor, University of South Africa, (Unisa), Pretoria, South Africa.

Prof. Chrissi Nerantzi (NTF, CATE, PFHEA) is a Professor in Creative and Open Education in the School of Education, a Senior Lead of the Knowledge Equity Network and the Academic Lead for Discover and Explore at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. She is a GO-GN alumna and an internationally recognised scholar in creative and open education, with career spanning roles, a teacher, programmer, translator, academic developer, and education innovator in Greece, Germany, and the UK.

2nd Panelist
Prof. KIT Eniola is passionate about and a strong advocate of the use of technology in learning delivery and has led initiatives such as online teaching and examination strategies. He advocates the robust use of ICT in the operations of Kogi State University Kabba, which has earned him the name Digital VC. It is to his credit that he is the Director of the first Distance Learning Centre granted approval by the NUC to operate in a private university in Nigeria.

3rd Panelist
Ganiyat A. ADESINA-UTHMAN holds PhD. (Economics, University Putra Malaysia (UPM) 2011). She is currently the Director, Directorate of Advancement and Linkage, NOUN; A certified e-Learning Facilitator and Teacher Educator, Open Polytechnic of New Zealand and Open University of United Kingdom (ODL professional). The Faculty of Social Sciences’ former Dean and Head of the Department of Economics (2016-2020) and she has served and still serving on several University and Faculty Committees such as the Senate Research Grant Committee; University Examination Committee; Business Committee of the Senate, Chairperson, Research and Ethics Committee, Chairperson, Faculty Academic Board, Business Committee of Seante etc.

Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu is a distinguished scholar of Veterinary Reproduction and an accomplished university administrator with a career spanning over three decades. He has held several notable positions, including Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Yola (2004–2009), and pioneer Vice Chancellor of Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa (2013–2018).

About The Distance Learning Institute, University of Lagos.
The Distance Learning Institute, University of Lagos, is a powerhouse in the provision of Open and Distance Education to all who seek to obtain formal education and lifelong learning through its domain. The Institute has played pivotal roles since its inception in 1974, contributing to manpower development in the nation and shaping the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) terrain. This is in fulfillment of one of the cardinal objectives behind the establishment of the University of Lagos.
The Institute, in pursuit of achieving its core objectives in the 21st century, instituted an annual discourse through an International Colloquium. This event brings together stakeholders involved in the provision of quality education through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode to discuss, analyze, and chart the way forward in enhancing the educational landscape of Nigeria and the world at large.
For the past four years, the Institute has consistently organized this colloquium. Experts in blended learning from various regions across the globe have graced the platform, delivering thought-provoking, inspiring, and engaging presentations.

Our Aim
The overarching aim of the 4th International Colloquium is to delve into specific and critical aspects of OFDL, identify challenges, explore innovative solutions, and promote best practices with a view to developing long-lasting, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible OFDL systems that can reach a wide audience.

All educational practitioners particularly those involved in policy making and administration of Open Distance Education and E-Learning in Higher Educational Institutions, Ministries, Secondary School Teachers and Administrators, NGOs and all Stakeholders in Education.
